Letter from the President Catania, Italy (April 8, 2023)

Dear colleagues, The AOPT Board worked tirelessly with our local organizing committees in Shenyang, China and Indianapolis, Indiana to hold two concurrent meetings: 1) a site meeting in Indianapolis, the 16th Biennial Scientific Meeting of the ‘AOPT and 2) a satellite meeting in Shenyang, China. [10 – 13 August 2023]. The theme of the meeting is “Crossing Barriers”. You are welcome to renew your AOPT membership, register for the meeting in Indiana, and submit your abstract at https://www.aopt.org/sixteenth-meeting/ The highlights of the meetings are: 1) Support for travel rewards 2) Main speakers: Dr. Katherine A. High (cofounder, president and chief scientific officer of Spark Therapeutics); Dr. José-Alain Sahel (Distinguished Professor and Chair, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine) 3) Sessions for young researchers 4) Discussion tables on eye pharmacology and therapeutics: from the bench to the bedside 5) Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics Award Winner Speech 6) Awards and socials at the NCAA Hall of Fame This global gathering and new format promise to offer a new mechanism for exchanging ideas and networking in the ophthalmic research community, among physicians, scientists and industry representatives.
